In the mood for love (and erm booze)

We weren’t actually around for Valentine’s day itself (more on that in the next post) so I searched around for something romantic we could do on a weeknight instead. Just up the road from work is excellent buy your bottle and fill it with lovely fruit flavoured booze or oil shop the DemiJohn. As I’m signed up to their most excellent newsletter I spotted that they were holding a tasting evening on Thursday 12th, tickets were acquired! We arrived to sample a lovely raspberry cocktail called the Raspberry Fresh recipe here (modelled in the above photo by the Jamses) then it was onto the tasting which had been laid out for us on one of the newly acquired barrels.

We were guided through the tastes and the makers of each one by our knowledgeable guide Darren.

After drinking up our shots (and making notes on our favourites) it was on to tasting some oils (with excellent local bread from just down the road).

Stomachs more than happy we were left to browse the shops, awesomely in with our ticket was a £5 voucher each to spend so we scrutinised the shelves and the contents of the beautiful custom made dispensers.

There is definitely something magic about the way the lights make the liquids shine. We eventually settled on a pre bottled cheese selection and a Scottish selection (seen at the top of the photo below) although Jam had to drag me away from the boxed bottles (so pretty!). Should you be unlucky enough not to live in Oxford fear not you can find the DemiJohn and all their delicious produce online here.
