My birthday fell on a Thursday this year and as it is no good to work on your birthday days were booked off and plans hatched. We headed to London to meet with the tropical butterflies currently housed at the Natural History Museum.

And what butterflies they were! Some stunning colours (this one was one of my favourites)

But there were plenty of other beautiful pattern and colour combinations:

We also saw quite a few butterflies ‘being friendly’…

These were clearly not the first as we found caterpillars and chrysalises in the trees and hanging up in the keepers house

And like all the best things it was over too soon, but not before I had found & said hello to Absolem

And visited the butterfly tea party

We had a lovely day & I’ve got lots more inspiration for butterflies in my stained glass designs.
